Imagine the serenity of soaring high over the Aoraki Mt Cook National park in a ski plane, heading up the Tasman Valley with scenery from the Hochstetter Icefall to the majestic summit of New Zealand’s highest peak Aoraki Mt Cook.
Even before you depart from Mt Cook Airport with Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters, the views up the valley are stunning. Boarding your ski plane and taking off brings you to the centre of the snow-capped mountains, bright blue glacier lakes and lush green vegetation of the lower slopes.
On your Mt Cook 360 scenic flight, enjoy views of New Zealand's longest glacier, the Tasman, before circling round to the west coast to discover the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. The Mt Cook ski plane then returns to the Tasman Valley via the spectacular Hooker Valley, surrounded by New Zealand's Southern Alps.
Throughout the flight, your knowledgeable Mt Cook ski plane pilot points out well-known landmarks, glaciers and possibly even a few of our infamous Kea’s, New Zealand’s only alpine parrot.
