Description
The Mt Aspiring Explorer is a heli adventure that places you close to the peaks, glaciers and remote valleys of Mount Aspiring National Park. This helicopter flight departs from Wanaka and enters the heart of the Southern Alps within minutes, giving you clear views of Mount Aspiring, the Glistening Peak at 3033 metres. Across the first section of the route you’ll travel above native forest, deep river trenches and long icefalls that feed the park’s major glaciers.
The flight continues around Mt Aspiring before crossing the main divide toward the West Coast. A landing on a glacier and a second stop at Albert Burn Saddle provide time to step out, take photos and experience the silence of the high alpine environment. Both landing points offer long views across the Southern Alps and back toward Wanaka.
This extended route is ideal for travellers wanting a Wanaka flight that goes deeper into the national park and offers both glacier access and alpine terrain. The combination of glaciers, waterfalls and rugged peaks gives you strong variety across the full 1hr 15min experience.
