Description
The Floating Sauna and Lake Plunge Watershed is a sauna experience on Lake Whakatipu, just steps from central Queenstown. This shared session offers a calm, social setting where heat, cold and rest come together on the water. Designed for relaxation and connection, it is an easy way to add wellness to your time in Queenstown.
Watershed features handcrafted Finnish-style saunas built on a floating pontoon. Large glass panels frame views across Lake Whakatipu and the surrounding mountains, while modern heaters maintain a steady temperature of around 80°C. You are free to move at your own pace between the sauna, the lake plunge pools and the outdoor showers throughout your session.
Each sauna has direct access to the lake via a cut-out plunge pool with underwater benches. The cold plunge is optional, with lighter cooling available using the showers or pull-handle bucket. A dedicated cool room provides space to rest between rounds and reset before returning to the heat.
This sauna session is a unique experience in Queenstown, combining fresh alpine water, simple comforts and good company. Whether you are unwinding after outdoor activities or looking for a quiet wellness reset, Watershed offers a balanced and refreshing way to experience Lake Whakatipu.
