Description

The Karioi Canyoning Adventure is a guided canyoning trip through the volcanic terrain in Raglan. Early in the four hour experience you enter a lava formed creek that cuts through native bush and a run of natural features shaped by water and time. You make steady progress downstream by scrambling, climbing and abseiling beside pools and steady waterfalls. 

Your guide leads the way while sharing local knowledge about the geology of Mt Karioi, native plant life and the wider landscape. The route moves across volcanic boulders and through flowing water, with each section offering a different challenge. Warm wetsuits keep you comfortable in the creek as you follow a clear path set by your guide. 

This Raglan adventure suits people with moderate fitness who are ready to get out of their comfort zone. The trip gives you direct access to a part of the region that sits out of sight from farmland and coastline. It is a small group experience for travellers who want an active way to see the waterfalls and volcanic features around Mt Karioi.

• A medium level of fitness is required.
• You do not need to know how to swim but it's important that you like to be in the water & don't have a fear of water
• Bring with you swimwear & a towel
• Activity involves walking, scrambling and abseiling in water
